Matea Road is a companion piece to ‘A Hitchhikers Guide’. Matea Road is where Mona Blades went missing in 1975. The chairs in the foreground are in disarray after a huge wind (the tornado) has blown through. Mona’s ghost is seen approaching the large squid-like creature as she passes through to the afterlife. Another jellyfish hovers ominously in the sky. My landscapes are often otherworldly in which strange monsters could be lurking just beyond the horizon. Here they are in plain sight.
