Altered Swans Series

Pollen Series, Swans 16-18

The Pollen Series (Sets 4-6) considers a moment here on Earth, yet in the stars at the same time. A pentimento of past memory overlaid in which a feeling is discovered that connects you to both places at once. As I walk into the forest I dig my toes into the ground. I close my eyes and feel surrounded, the universe runs through me, this connection to time and space. I feel the stars within the soil, galaxies between each blade of grass. Pollen from the flowers illuminates this journey and the bees gather wisdom from the books of nature. Within a second of release I open my eyes, just another moment in this experience.

Important Note –  There is a small crack of the wing of the large piece, number 18/55, this is visible in the images. Max chose some bisque(the unglazed ceramic body) with what would normally be considered faults. These were worked in to series, as what began as a hair line crack opened up during the glaze firing – Mathew enjoyed learning some new tricks, as the story was woven into these sets, and individual pieces.
