This is the medium swan from Set 5 of the Altered Swan series.

It is numbered as both 14/55 and as part of Set 5 of 15 sets in this series.

The Pollen Series (Sets 4-6) considers a moment here on Earth, yet in the stars at the same time. A pentimento of past memory overlaid in which a feeling is discovered that connects you to both places at once. As I walk into the forest I dig my toes into the ground. I close my eyes and feel surrounded, the universe runs through me, this connection to time and space. I feel the stars within the soil, galaxies between each blade of grass. Pollen from the flowers illuminates this journey and the bees gather wisdom from the books of nature. Within a second of release I open my eyes, just another moment in this experience

Max developed these sets as a body of work expressing moods within the design pattern. While the set represents an concept, the individual pieces work well by themselves.

Altered Swans Set 5/15

This is a one off unique piece.

Medium swan approx. 21cm (L) x 12.5cm (W) x 14cm (H)

Important Note –  There are two glaze drips under the base of medium piece, number 14/55, this is visible in the images. Max chose some bisque(the unglazed ceramic body) with what would normally be considered faults.  Here the glaze runs in the kiln and dripped under the body. While it sat on kiln stilts to stop the glaze sticking the piece to the kiln shelf, there is no way to accurately forecast what the glaze will do! This effect was discussed and part of the work.
